Graduating with a BS in Biology from the University of San Francisco in 2011, Theresa has a pretty good idea of what she wants to do with her life.

Theresa would like to dedicate her life to conservation of biodiversity. Her goals include returning to school to earn her Masters and eventually PhD in the field of Conservation Biology. She plans to specialize in Population and Evolutionary Biology. Theresa sees herself doing research and teaching at a university in the future. Once an established scientist, she would love to pursue one of her hobbies and go to art school.

A strong believer that the planet is undergoing its sixth mass extinction event due to human causes, Theresa asserts that it is possible for the soaring human population to learn to live with, rather than exploit, populations of other species. While she is critical of Homo sapiens, she considers herself an optimist for the future of the planet. Over the next year Theresa hopes to explore the idea that social problems are rooted in environmental ones, by working in environmental education and gaining experience on organic farms.

In her time away from studies Theresa is pondering ways in which the large human population can coexist with all other living populations.

She thinks humility may be key.

Possibly reminders of the fact that Homo sapiens are just a species in the animal kingdom.
